Vivametrica is a Calgary-based company that provides analytics-as-a-service for wearable health and wellness. With a team of physicians and scientists, Vivametrica assesses the customer data against the company’s large database of similar users. The goal is to help prevent future health problems.
Vivametrica wanted to display this information in a mobile application. A conceptual prototype had been developed internally but Vivametrica wanted to better understand its users needs and how that could be interpret through a mobile application.
UX Guys Approach
Vivametrica had some assumptions about what users wanted and how it could conceptually be displayed. To validate those assumptions, the UX Guys interviewed a group of potential end users. The results were a little eye-opening; while some assumptions were validated, others ran counter to some of Vivametrica’s thoughts.
As a result of knowing the user, the UX Guys and Vivametrica could begin designing the interface from a similar understanding. Both teams worked side-by-side for nearly a month, working through bite-sized chunks of the application.
In the end, the UX Guys and Vivametrica were able to develop an interactive, high-fidelity prototype of the application.
With this intensely collaborative approach, we went from stakeholder and end-user interviews to an interactive prototype in 8 weeks. The prototype has become the model on which wearable device manufacturers enhance their mobile apps to be 'Powered by Vivametrica.'
