Chuck McKinnon Sr. User Experience Architect

Chuck comes to UX Guys via the disciplines of computer science and human computer interface design. He’s an experienced web, software and hardware user experience specialist who helps businesses grow by integrating customer research, rapid prototyping and other UX techniques. And if that sounds impressive, wait ‘til you see where he’s been and what he’s done in his career.

As founder of the Usability team at SMART Technologies, Chuck helped the SMART Board 600 win “Best User Functionality” over the iPod Nano at the 2006 China Industry Design Competition. He also integrated heuristic evaluation, cognitive walkthroughs and usability testing into many of SMART’s processes.

At Veer, he created a new image key-wording tool that improved efficiency for common tasks by as much as 33 times. And at QuIC, he led the team that developed a data visualization interface to help portfolio risk managers interpret data and allocate billions of dollars in capital.

When he’s not developing impressive interface and usability solutions, Chuck finds his other calling in the kitchen, where he’s happy to employ a different kind of user research technique. As a lover of fine food and participant in gourmet cooking classes, he naturally reads and speaks French fluently, skills he honed while living in France for two years. C’est la vie!
