Robb Johnstone User Experience Architect

Robb Johnstone

Robb has been organizing information on the Web since 1997, starting with TribalDDB in Vancouver before moving to Calgary. He has dabbled in advertising, working as a writer for prestigious agencies like Ogilvy & Mather, but his first love remains the Internet.

Working at Critical Mass, he helped launch the re-design of the Mercedes-Benz USA website, developing deep content tailored to new strategy, structure and objectives. He is also proud of his leadership role on the site team at Rare Method that re-designed the visitor's portal for Banff Tourism.

With a varied background that includes a BA in political science, BEd in education and certificate in journalism, Robb has always focused on the power of words to communicate, educate and influence decisions. He has written educational books for children, ads for major corporations and, at best guess, more than 50 websites.

A devoted dad, Robb is also a firm believer in work-life balance, even though his playtime often involves running marathons, cycling the highways of Kona, or swimming across lakes. He's also been known to throw on the hockey gear with the UX Guys, but might be last on the team's depth chart.

Robb joined UX Guys in 2009, and is currently a user experience architect developing solutions for Shaw Cablesystems.
