It’s Summertime

August 12th, 2007

And the UX Guys blog will be on summer hiatus.

Thursday’s Site

August 2nd, 2007

Today’s site: Estately.com.

If you are looking for a home in Washington State - or just want to see how a real estate website should look and behave - then Estately.com is the place to go.

After entering the site by submitting a city, county or ZIP Code, users are presented with a large area map with all the current available homes and condos for sale located on the map with little iconic push pins. Users can click on a push pin and get a summary view of the listing (a more detailed view is available with another click).

Estately also offers users area/neighbourhood information and an agent matching service.

(UPDATE: Estately.com used to be ShackPrices.com.)

Today’s site: CampusExplorer.

Summer has hardly begun but for many this fall’s high school juniors and seniors, the hard work of finding post-secondary schools to apply to has (or should) begun.

Campus Explorer is a website dedicated to helping students, parents and counselors gather information on schools throughout the United States.

Users are given three ways to begin their search: by subject, location and length of schooling (sorry, no “best party school” field box). Results are listed alphabetically, shown on a Google map and include average cost (in-state vs. out-of-state).

The real value of the site is in the details. After selecting a school, users will find a wealth of data on student demographics, expenses, admissions and a list of four-year programs.
